Health & Wellness
At Horizons K8 School we believe in caring for the whole child. We know that before students can focus and succeed in the classroom, they must be supported physically, mentally and through a healthy environment.
Physical Health
On a daily basis it is important for students to take care of themselves by eating healthy, being active and getting enough sleep. Learning healthy habits now provides both long-term academic and health benefits. K-8 students enjoy planned games and activities at recess, have weekly PE, and sports intensives and exploratories such as biking and swimming.
Social and Emotional Health
Important mental health habits—including coping, resilience, and good judgment— help students to achieve a sense of well being and set the stage for positive mental health in adulthood. At Horizons, all students are well-versed and practiced in calming techniques, understanding reactivity and non-violent communication.
