What is the Hawk Bucks Campaign?
The Horizons’ Hawk Bucks campaign supports the school’s budget annually, helping to bridge the gap between what we receive in State funding, the costs we pay for services from BVSD, and the actual cost of our program. It is important to note that the suggested annual amount is in addition to the classroom and field trip fees that each family contributes each year. The kind of education we provide – small classes, rich choices that support student interest, individualized attention with a paraprofessional in almost every room is costly. Your support is vital in helping us to continue to offer an outstanding K-8 progressive education for 21st Century learners.
Gifts of any size make a difference! Help us to close the $600.00 per child gap. Your generosity helps us to attract and retain high-quality teachers and staff. We are happy to accommodate supporters that wish to spread their gift over several months or to pledge to provide a gift at a later date. Last year, through the hard work and generosity of our school community, family, and friends, Horizons’ raised over $70,000 through Hawks Bucks/Colorado Gives campaign. Our total fundraising goal for the year was $140,000. We surpassed that goal with Hawk Bucks/Colorado Gives, Spring Auction and Gala, Artastic Winter Market, and other fundraising efforts. As a result, our parent and teacher led Council was able to vote to fund over $200,000 of initiatives, directly supporting staff development, curriculum, sensory learning supplies, and our #BigKidsPlayToo playground and park development project.
This year, we need to match or exceed our fundraising goal from last year in order to maintain the Horizons Council funds, develop our Nature Play spaces, and extend our intentional learning spaces to our beautiful grounds. Please join us!
