Meet Our Literacy Teachers

As part of the Horizons Learning Lab team, Literacy Interventionists work closely with classroom teachers to support students' growth in their literacy skill development. Students are recommended to receive literacy intervention based on review of assessment data as a collaborative team. 

Students work with one of our trained Literacy Interventionists in small instructional groups where they receive instruction targeted to their goals. Most literacy intervention groups utilize the Orton Gillingham (OG) instructional approach from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE). 

Our Literacy Interventionists are committed to ongoing professional learning and research-based instruction as described in the BVSD Literacy webpage. 

Our Faculty are committed to all aspects of the Horizons Mission, Vision and Values. Literacy intervention is most closely related to the value of Growth: developing community and connection within small group targeted instruction.
