Kindergarten

The first year of elementary school sets the foundation for the exciting learning experiences that await children at Horizons. Our full day Kindergarten classes focus on the whole child as a learner.  There is a strong focus on social/emotional skills, community building, and self-direction. Whole group, small group, and individual instruction allows for differentiation of instruction. Learning through cooperative play and hands-on experiences, both inside and outside the classroom, helps young children feel happy and comfortable while beginning to challenge themselves.

Choice activities support growth in communication and problem solving skills as well as decision making. While our academic goals are guided by state standards, teachers at Horizons are constantly modifying curriculum to meet the needs and interests of students making Horizons a place where children love to learn and to learn that learning can be fun!
