Principal's Message

Welcome to Horizons K-8 Charter School!
My name is Kristin Hauger, Interim Head of School for the 2026/2027 school year.

Horizons school was founded on the belief that children learn best in an intentionally designed environment that guides and encourages their innate curiosity and joy. We know that the most meaningful learning happens through relationships - with peers; older and younger students; teachers, paras, and staff; community members; and families.

By building our knowledge and skills, we strengthen both ourselves and our communities. Learning is not about passing a test or getting a grade; it’s a complex process that builds and grows with experience and effort. It’s both individual and interconnected. The full potential of the human mind is found in an environment that allows each person to feel safe, connected, and capable. This is what we strive for every day at Horizons K-8.

I’m so glad to have you join us this year, and I look forward to connecting with you as we collaborate to do the wonderful work of learning together.

Hawks Hopeful,

Kristin
