Community Events
- Board meetings take place the second Thursday of the month at 6pm. Community members are invited to join, make a public comment at the start of the meeting, and listen in to the decision-making process of the Horizons board.
- Council meetings take place the third Thursday of the month at 6pm. This is a time for any and all community members to gather and discuss issues relevant to the school. This is a time to have your voice heard.
- Meet Your Mentor - Light breakfast served on the first day of school (for everyone) where new families can meet their mentors for the year.
- Coffee Connections - A parent gathering at 8:30am on the first Friday of the month. Light refreshments and discussions led by speakers, school administration, or parents.
- Speaker Events - The Horizons Community Group (HCG) and the Equity, Diversity, & Belonging Committee (EDB) offer speaker events and workshops throughout the year.
- Pizza Fridays - On most Fridays at dismissal, parent volunteers offer Abo's pizza for purchase.
- Chili Cookoff - A special council meeting where we share dishes and recipes and vote on the community's best chili
- Fall Dance - A community building event held in October in the gym
- Artastic - A pre-holiday craft bazaar. A great way to do your gift buying while supporting the school.
- Pancake Breakfast - a much-loved fundraiser breakfast. Students and parents cook, serve, and eat together.
- Spring Plant Sale- buy your plants and seedlings while building community.
- End of Year Picnic - Bring a watermelon to share and celebrate the end of another year well-done!
- Clothing Swaps - Once in the fall and once in the spring, parents organize a free clothing swap where you can leave what you don't need anymore and grab some new-to-you items.
